If you’ve accidentally deleted default tools or sub-tools in Clip Studio Paint, you can easily restore them using the “Add from default” feature. Here’s how:

How to Restore Default Tools:
- Open the [Tool] palette by clicking on the top left corner, then select the menu icon (≡) > [Add from default].
- In the [Add from default] dialog that appears, choose the tool you want to restore, and click [OK]. For example, you can select the [Pencil] tool.
The selected default tool will now be added back to your [Tool] palette.
How to Restore Default Sub Tools:
- Open the [Sub Tool] palette by clicking on the top left corner, then select the menu icon (≡) > [Add from default].
- In the [Add from default] dialog that appears, choose the tool you want to restore, and click [OK]. For example, you can select the [Pencil] tool.
The chosen default sub tool will be added back to your [Sub Tool] palette.
Note that it will be added to the currently displayed sub tool group.

Restoring Default Sub Tools from Versions Earlier than 1.10.10:
If you need to restore default sub tools from versions earlier than 1.10.10, such as [Tapered Pen] and [Fill-in-mono pen], you can download them from Clip Studio Assets. If you can’t find the sub tool you want, please check the materials collection for these versions.
Restoring All Default Tools:
If you want to reset all default tools to their original installed state, be aware that this will remove any customizations and self-made brushes. To do this, refer to the FAQ on resetting tool settings to default.
Using the Smartphone Version:
In the smartphone version, the [Tool] and [Sub Tool] palettes are initially hidden. You’ll need to display these palettes before restoring default tools or sub tools.
To display the [Tool] and [Sub Tool] palettes on smartphones:
- Tap the menu icon (≡) and select [App Settings].
2. Choose [Palette Bar Settings].
3. Check the items you want to display on the palette bar, then tap [OK].
- To display the [Tool] palette, check [Tool] and tap [OK].
To display the [Sub Tool] palette, check [Sub Tool] and tap [OK].
The selected item(s) will now be visible on the palette bar for easy access.
