Steps to Setup Backup Notification

Whether you’re initiating a new backup task or managing an existing one, configuring email notifications is straightforward.

Follow these steps:

For New Backup Tasks:

1. Begin by creating a new backup task and selecting the desired backup items.
2. Access the Options menu located in the left corner.
3. Navigate to the Backup Notification page and provide the necessary details. We will explained how to fill up these boxes later in this post.
4. Click OK to activate the notification feature.

For Existing Backup Tasks:

1. Select the existing backup task from the left-hand side and choose Options.
2. Proceed to the Backup Notification page and complete all necessary fields, as detailed later in this guide.
3. Confirm by clicking OK to activate the notification feature.

For Version 13.5 and Previous Versions:

1. Choose to initiate a new System Backup, Disk/Volume Backup, or File Backup.

When filling out the Backup Notification page, ensure you provide accurate information:

1. Email Address: Enter the email address(es) where you wish to receive notifications, separated by commas if multiple. For example: ana@ivoicesoft.com,giveaway@ivoicesoft.com
2. Email Subject Contains: The email subject is pre-filled and generally doesn’t require modification.
3. Server Name: Specify the server name, typically in the format smtp.domainname.com/. For instance, use smtp.gmail.com for Gmail
4. Port: Set the port for the outgoing mail server. Default is usually port 25. If testing with port 25 fails, try the following combinations:
   • 25 with or without SSL/TLS enabled
   • 465 with or without SSL/TLS enabled
   • 587 with or without SSL/TLS enabled
5. Username/Password: Provide the login username and password for your email account.
6. Indicate when you want to receive notifications—whether upon successful backup, failure, or both scenarios.
